Many small children take an interest in music. In starts while they are still in diapers and they discover that a spoon and pot banging together will make a sound. Sounds are all around us, we associate a specific sound with an object or person as well as a tune or melody with a product or person. Musical programs such as band and choir are quickly being eliminated from many schools to help fill budget deficits and decrease overall spending costs of the institution. This can be done by utilizing books that offered structured lesson plans or through computer software programs that teach and test children on the knowledge of music.

 

Lessons that should be taught to a child are first, understanding music. They will need to know the difference between a treble clef and a bass clef, how to read music time, and how to know which scale the piece is written in before they perform. The next step should be teaching your child basic scales in B flat and how to identify which note is which by using popular acronyms. Once this has been completed, you may teach your child the note values and how to identify each of those on a piece of music. After this, your child can begin to master reading music.

 

Helping a child learn to read sheet music can be very rewarding as well as a unique growing opportunity for both parents and the child. It gives families time to spend together and learn a new craft at the same time. With a little bit of practice, a child will quickly learn to read sheet music and master the art of playing an instrument.
